Bird in the hand.

I recently helped this little guy recover his wits after he crashed into the sliding glass door.
He was so cute. After a half-hour he flew off. he stayed long enough to have his picture taken though.
And I was like a little kid on Christmas, with uncombed hair and everything!

Paul finally decide he wanted a hair cut. His new summer hair reminds me of all the skater kids when I was a teen. (I actually shaved the sides of my head similar to this when I was 13. so glad there are no pics of that) Our garden is growing well. We've already had homegrown summer squash as a side. we have 25 tomatos that will hopefully ripen and tons of jalepenos (sorry no squiggly).

Tonight we will use this bad boy (am so proud) by adding it to some dirty rice. Looks awesome. Hopefully we didn't sacrafice flavor for looks. I want to test it out, but no one will let me take a bite out of it. "we have to save it for the rice!" I just want one bite. I don't see what the big deal is. Paul has tried to explain it. Apparently, no one wants to eat food that has already had a bite taken out. What a bummer.
Anyway, I sit for my CNA on Friday, so wish me luck!

Two more drops in the bucket.

Screws to tight for withered hands
and you to proud to ask

I hold the phone
emergency speed dial
just in case

wires
electric
a rogue current
that envelopes conversation
creating a void
as you work toward my happiness

My camera

Just some random pics i've taken since getting my camera. I don't know who the man is but he looked so relaxed. Below are a couple of pics of the Withlacoochee State Preserve.

This one was taken at Cracker Days, an annual festival to learn about Florida's history. I felt so bad for the puppy. I don't think I would have been able to resist that piece of meat for more than, oh, 5 minutes had I been chained beneath it like he was.

This is just one of my favorite pics.

another of my favorites

And I see this monster atleast once a month at the gas station.

flashes of memory
like lightning
quick
and blinding
almost
an afterthought
inverted images
burned onto retinas

the booming roll
of thunder
and emotion
causes muscles
to twitch,
stiffen

causes the heart
to jump
paralyzing the senses.

Just A Thought

Breathing death into my face
And all I keep thinking is
I've a brand new package of mints
doing the hallelujah shake in my pocket,
each one jockeying to be the one
to set that straight

just a few more. I'm slowly working up the courage to print some of my anger/stress-reliever ones. They arne't always pretty, but they help me put my smile on.

Share it.

I was recently given a piece of advice by a friend. It took me a week to mull it over, but I think I am ready to accept it. She said "share your talent with people while you can." Now I don't have much in the way of talent, but I do enjoy writing poetry. So here are a few of my favorites.

Where We Grow

Floating,
Feather-like,
And twirling,
Downward
Into isotonic
Memories of us.

Floating,
Bubble-round,
And Bursting forth,
In to the maelstrom
That is we.

Floating,
Seeds caught
By wind
And falling
gently,
where we grow.

Get to it!

Create me a new
and wonderous space!
Cover the white.

Get to it!

I want a rainbow!
Every hue that you own.
I'm sick of sterility.
I want a home!

no more whitewashed feelings
no more feeling alone.

Get to it!

Today was quite a day. I went to bed sick last night and woke up feeling, well, still sick. We are making Thanksgiving preparations, so the kids went outside to clean and weed. We are still finding sharp objects of all kinds in the yard. Metal, glass, plastic, it doesn't matter what it;s made of, it all hurts going in and is painful coming out. We try to make sure they wear shoes all the time, which is akward for a cracker like me. Anyway, Pauly was the unlucky one today. A good chunk of glass, which probably hurt more coming out, got lodged in the ball of his foot. It took a half an hour to get it out. (I was surprised no one called the police, he screamed so loud). An hour later and you would never know it happened. He was running around (shoes on this time) screaming (we have very tolerant nieghbors) and having an all around good time. Kids get over things so quickly. I probably would have been limping for the rest of the day.

Things quieted down for a little while after that. TThen Anya decided she needed to leash train Moxie (one of the cats). The dogs saw thier chance and five minutes later, Anya, Moxie and Fritz (Dad's dog) were quite traumatized. And I now have claw marks all down one of my calves. Hard to say who took it worse, Anya or Moxie.

Again, things calmed down, I got Anya to stop crying. Moxie was fine and Fritz had forgotten the whole thing. Who's left? Ah, yes. Bridgett! Who had the nerve to tell Pauly that her marshmallow roasting stick was better than his and consequently was popped in the mouth because Pauly disagreed. Luckily, the tooth he loosened was already on its' way out. And this was mostly my day today. I could add the conversation with the Witnesses and the after lunch fortune cookies but i think i've told you enoough about my wonderful day. That's not sarcasm either. With all the crisis' we went thru today, It was still an awesome day. I spent it with people who love me and no matter the mistakes we make, we are still family.

Oh! I'll have to post a pic of Anya in her new glasses when they finally come in. Turns out, she's near-sighted.
